Catholic School Council

The Catholic School Council is an advisory body whose mission is to enhance the education of our children in a faith-centered environment in partnership with the school, parish, community and home.

Our  Parent Voting Members for the 2025/2026 school year with a brief biography are listed below.

Luisa Amabile – I’m Luisa Amabile, proud parent of one child currently attending St. Katherine Drexel CHS. I would like to join the SKDCSC to help support our school community and contribute to creating a positive, inclusive environment for all. I have been a part of CSC (different schools) for 14 years holding positions such as Chair, Co-chair, Fundraising and Food Service Chair. I’m passionate about building strong school-family connections and working collaboratively with staff and other parents to enhance our children’s educational experience.

Laura Aprile – I am a proud mom of three—two wonderful kids in elementary school and an adult child currently in university. Being involved in my children’s education and school community is very important to me. I enjoy spending time with my family, staying active, reading, and travelling, and I especially love connecting with new people. In my career, I work as an HR Consultant, focusing on disability management and creating inclusive workplaces, and I’ve worked in the federal government for 19 years. I believe strongly in the value of community and would be grateful for the opportunity to contribute my time and energy to support our school through the parent council.

Dana Arcinas – I have two children that attend SKD – one in grade 10 and one in grade 7.
I was a member of the SBN for 12 years and now that I no longer have any children at SBN – I would like to be involved at SKD.

Bessie Benevides – I’d like to be apart of school council so that i can participate in helping shape school initiatives, strengthen faith-based values, and build connections with teachers, and families.

Joanne Crupi – As a parent at St. Katharine Drexel and part of the admin staff at Stouffville Soccer Club, I bring experience in organization, coordination, and community engagement. I am eager to contribute to School Council by supporting student success, sharing ideas, and helping build a strong school community where our children can thrive.

Regina Flores –  As a parent, educator, and strategist, I bring over a decade of experience creating learning ecosystems that empower independent learners, homeschooling families, and marginalized communities. I have managed cooperatives, designed self-directed education programs, and worked to make knowledge and technology more accessible to those often excluded from traditional systems.
My professional path spans education, design, arts, and technology, leading teams, building inclusive communities, and using technology to amplify voices and opportunities. I believe deeply in collaborative decision-making and in strengthening the vital partnership between school, home, and parish.
I would be honored to serve on the Council, where I hope to contribute my skills in leadership, communication, and strategic vision to support our children’s growth, and to nurture a school community rooted in equity, creativity, and faith.

Alicia Khatchadourian – I am excited to be running for Parent Council for my third year. For the past two years, I have had the privilege of serving as Secretary, and I was also part of the Cornerstone Committee, where I helped develop the school’s logo, colours, and uniforms—an experience I truly valued.

I have lived in this community for 15 years and run my own Esthetic business from home, which allows me to stay connected and involved. As a parent of twin daughters in grade 11 at SKD — the oldest students at the school — I understand the importance of leadership, school spirit, and building strong connections. My goal is to continue fostering a positive and welcoming environment while strengthening the relationship between parents, students, and the school community. I look forward to another successful year ahead and the opportunity to serve on council for the 2025/2026 year.

Noel Kirthraj -Noel Kirthiraj is an accomplished technology executive and strategic advisor with over two decades of experience driving innovation and technology strategy. He has built and led ventures across technology, media and telecommunications and continues to mentor entrepreneurs and advise organizations in Canada and abroad on the cutting edge of artificial intelligence.

Andrea Throuvalas – My name is Andrea Throuvalas, and I’m a proud mother of three—George (Grade 7 at St. Katherine Drexel), Dean (Grade 5), and Lucas (Grade 3) at St. Mark. Since this is our family’s first year at St. Katherine Drexel, I’m really looking forward to getting involved and giving back to the school community that my children will be part of for many years to come. Over the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children in many capacities, including as a behaviour therapist supporting children with special needs and as a language teacher. Helping children grow and reach their full potential—both academically and socially—has always been deeply rewarding to me. Today, I run my own business as an interior designer, but community involvement remains a constant in my life. Whether through volunteering with local charities, supporting youth sports teams, or engaging in school initiatives, I’ve always found joy in giving back. I’m committed to sharing my time and working with families, staff, and council members to make this a wonderful year for our students and school, while upholding the YCDSB’s values of fostering a positive, faith-based, and inclusive environment.
